(1) Gather information
5 W's
- what?
- is the objective of the site
- is the branding (if any)
- types of sites or designs do you like
- is the companies objective
- are things to stay away from
- type of content/links will be needed
- why?
- are you building the site
- who?
- is the target audience
- is the competition
- will maintain it
- will be the decision makers on the project
- where?
- will the site be hosted
- wordpress, your own domain, etc..
- will your target audience be viewing this
- mobile, desktop, tablet
- when? is it needed
(2) Build a mind map or word map
(3) Block out the site - Site Map (Find out what links are needed)
(4) Storyboard the pages (Sketch)
(5) Create a wireframe
Get approval
(6) Wireframe phone, tablet, desktop if needed
Get approval
(8) Once design is approved, begin development.
